The Chief Medical Director of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, Doctor Ikrama Hassan has saluted the strenuous efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule in ensuring that the state receives the best medical and health services that can be longed for anywhere in the world.
Doctor Hassan said the state government has accorded great priority to the health institution especially in the area of funding, manpower growth and resolving the existing issue of brain drain which has taken centre stage in the Nigerian education and health sectors.
He stated this during the 2024 first quarter budget performance assessment of the Hospital before the House Standing Committee on Health, in Lafia.
He appreciated the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for the support the Hospital is enjoying from them and called for its sustenance.
He, however, identified shortage of doctors, as major challenges facing the Hospital, stressing that 24 medical doctors have so far left the Hospital with 7 replacement.
Commenting, Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Health, Larry Ven-Bawa tasked the State Government to initiate deliberate policies that reduce brain drain at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.
Ven-Bawa said that the rate at which medical doctors are leaving the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, in recent times has been a source of concern, hence the need for the House to call on government to do the needful.
He said the Committee invited DASH leadership to assess its 2024 budget performance for the first quarter as demanded by the constitution.
Ven-Bawa commended the
Hospital for good budget performance and urged them to do more.
