Worried by the rising cases of insecurity across the nation, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the Labour Party, Alexander Ombugu, has called on Christian faithfuls to use the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration to offer prayers for Nigeria.
This was contained in the Chairman’s Easter message signed and made available to Journalists in Lafia, the capital on Sunday.
He urged Christians to use the period for sober reflection and express love to all citizens of the country, especially the less privileged ones as exhibited by Jesus Christ.
The LP Chairman commiserated with the people of Benue and Plateau States over the resent crisis which claimed the lives of many of the residents, while calling on the federal government to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
Ombugu further emphasised that for Nigeria to achieve its goals, there was need to end divisiveness, intolerance and misunderstandings amongst religious and ethnic groups in the country.
Speaking about the current hardship being faced by the citizens, he called on President Bola Tinubu to work towards ameliorating the sufferings of the people, explaining that some families can no longer eat three square meals in a day.
“Today, being Easter Sunday is a day to celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I therefore urge all Nigerians to forgive one another and show love just like Christ did.
“Our Lord Jesus Christ taught humility, friendship and leadership with exemplary character. We should learn to be Christ–like in all our day to day activities wherever we find ourselves,” he said.
While commending the entire residents of Nasarawa State for sustaining the peace that is currently being enjoyed across the 13 Local Government Areas, Ombugu rejoiced with them for witnessing another Easter celebration.
“There is no society that can be developed in an atmosphere of rancour, so the peace that we are all enjoying now should be sustained at all cost.
“We should also constantly pray for Nasarawa State and Nigeria our beloved country, so that God Almighty will give our leaders the ideas to be able to make the right decisions in order to take the nation to greater heights,” he added.
