Ex-Nasarawa Speaker, Ohimege Opanda hail Gov. Sule, Army for curbing incessant killings in Toto

Former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi and the Ohimege Opanda, HRH. Usman Abdullahi attended the Eid-el-Fitr prayer with their people in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of the State.

The two-unit prayer held at Umaisha Central Eid ground was led by the Chief Imam of the area who is the Khadi Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Mohammed Yahaya Usman with special prayer for peace, unity and progress of the country, the state and the area in particular in the face of the recent attacks in the area that claimed lives of three soldiers, a village head and many others as well as destruction of properties.

As it is a tradition among the people, they accompanied the royal father from Eid ground to the palace where they all gathered to paid homage and the first-class monarch.

In his speech, the Ohimege Opanda, appreciated the pragmatic effort of Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Nigeria Army in curtailing unabated killings in the area.

He said the tireless efforts of Governor Sule and the Nigeria Army had bought the situation under control, acknowledging the relentless efforts of the local vigilantes as he urged them not to relent.

The paramount ruler of Egbura Nation in Nasarawa State tasked his people on peace and unity considering its impact in the society as well as the need to be security conscious and embrace farming, fishing and trading that they are known for.

On his part, the immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi specifically went down memory lane on the longtime efforts of leaders to ensure sustain peace and unity in the area stressing that some people are head bent to ensure that the area did not enjoy peace.

He emphasized the need to keep politics out of the situation especially that it involves lives of the people so that the needful should be done.

While appreciating the effort of the State Governor and the Army, Abdullahi condoled with the army authorities and the family of the three soldiers who lost their lives and other civilians, appealing to government to support the families of the slain soldiers.

The Overseer, Umaisha Development Area, Iliyasu Miryam, appreciated the royal father’s leadership style and the former Speaker for coming down home to celebrate with his people just as he called on the people to embrace agriculture.
