The Centre for Community Action for Peace and Development (CCAPAD) has trained some young persons in various skills in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.
The skill training and empowerment, co-funded by the European Union among others, drew participants across various social settings.
Nasarawa Newsline’s correspondent reports that the beneficiaries received intensive training in cosmetology, hair dressing, computer and GSM repairs.
Presenting starter packs to the beneficiaries, Executive Director of the Centre, Ahmed Salihu urged the youths to take the training seriously to add value to the lives.
Salihu added that an occupied mind is alien to crimes, calling on the trainees to build the culture of peace for development in order to reap the dividends of their business investment.
Representatives of the Lafia Emirate Council, Human Rights Commission, the Nigerian Police, Jama’atul Nasril Islam, Christian Association of Nigeria commended the Centre and its partners for bringing up the initiative, calling for its sustenance to end crimes, unemployment and marginalization.
On their parts, beneficiaries of the empowerment kits, Alu Patrick, Ibrahim Ahmad and Patience Azagayi appreciated the organization for the skill training and facility empowerment, pledging to put it to good use for self dependence.
Certificates of participation were presented to the various beneficiaries by the Centre.
