The Oriye Rindre, Justice Lawal Musa Nagogo (Rtd) has called on parents and guardians to allow their girl child aged nine to take Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) vaccine to prevent them against the deadly scourge of cervical cancer.

The first-class royal father made the call while addressing his subjects at his palace in Wamba LGC of Nasarawa State.

Justice Nagogo (Rtd) explained that World Health Organization (WHO) cannot produce vaccines that will adversely affect the well-being of people in Nigeria, considering the high-level experiences of medical experts and scientists in the country.

The monarch charged village heads, district heads and other traditional title holders at the palace to mobilize their communities particularly parents and eligible girls for uptake of the HPV vaccine, noting that it is safe, effective and given free.

According to him, the cost of managing all forms of cancer related diseases is costly hence the importance of preventive measures such as the HPV vaccination.

He called on parents not to allow traditional misconceptions about vaccines to prevent them from benefiting from the goodwill of the government and the WHO aimed at promoting health and well-being for all at all ages in line with the targets of the Sustainable Development Goal 3.
