The Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian Service and NGOs, Princess Margaret Elayo, has dismissed suggestions in the public domain that she’s the most prominent commissioner in the Abdullahi Sule-led government.
Recently, it had been on the lips of a cross section of the public that the commissioner happened to be the most transparent, accommodating and prominent member of the State Executive Council.
Speaking to Nasarawa Newsline, the Humanitarian Service commissioner said she’s not better than her colleagues in the council, stating that she may have been known, heard or seen as such due to the job description of her office.
She noted that “there are many that are doing great job but are not known only because their official roles are defined administratively for documentation and general administration of government”.
She said “we are all humans, we can do better and we can fail some times”.
She promised to be loyal and continue to exhibit high standard of steadfastness and humanity in service, affirming that the success of her office is basically due to the support she had got from Governor Sule and the people of Nasarawa State.
On the issue of the Thursday night inferno at the Lafia Modern Market, the commissioner said Governor Sule had pledged to support the victims, resting that government will ensure transparency and accountability in the allocation of the aid to be given by the state government.
Elayo implored the marketers to cooperate with her ministry in providing actionable information to hasten the support delivery, explaining that so far it was gathered that about sixty shops and stalls had been affected in the inferno.
