Kidney Transplant: Ending Abdullahi Amwe’s Imminent Sunset At Noon

Shuaibu Usman

There have been increasing concerns being raised by members of the public who feel sympathetic with Hadiza Muhammad Amwe, wife to a former Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Media, Abdullahi Anwe, who has been on the brink of death in the last 20 months due to kidney failure that terribly deteriorates her health daily.

Mrs. Amwe since the dawn of her kidney complication has undergone series of renal dialysis three times weekly at the Zenith Medical and Kidney Centre in Abuja till present.

The deterioration of the disease significantly impacted on the family’s financial life currently having a lean purse to cater for her medical needs.

The cost of treatment is a huge challenge to all kidney-failure patients which Mrs. Amwe cannot be an exception. She is increasingly worried and coming down with the disease as she becomes despondent of living to see the next second with her two-year-old daughter, Halima who still needs her care and her fourteen-year-old Hamza Abdullahi Amwe who has been suffering from natal cerebral palsy.

Overwhelmed with the rising cost of treatment with slim pocket, her husband, Amwe has resorted to soliciting for largesse from spirited individuals and institutions including government to assist his ailing wife.

Her acute kidney failure needs a prompt transplant costing over 30 million Naira with no dime for the family to move on as it has been so constrained with the millions of Naira spent already in the last 20 months of intense medical attention.

Frankly speaking, Governor Abdullahi Sule has shown remarkable philanthropy in assisting Mrs. Amwe to have her failing kidney restored but efforts have not yielded the much expected results medically.

Personally, some efforts cannot be enough until it is enough. We further solicit for more generous support from humanitarian organisations, spirited individuals and government to ensure that Mrs. Amwe recuperates after unending months of hopelessness, helplessness, dedication to treatment and consistent prayers.

On behalf of Mrs. Amwe’s sympathisers, I urge government and philanthropists to give Mrs. Amwe a hope that her expectations in life have not come to an end by supporting her generously to come up fit.
