Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has continued to receive accolades from the residents of Lafia over the on-going construction of flyover and underpass worth billions of Naira in the metropolis.
They gave their commendation while speaking to Nasarawa Newsline correspondent, Shuaibu Usman, on the development in Lafia, the state capital.
The Governor while announcing the construction of the flyover and underpass worth billions of Naira said his administration was committed to providing basic infrastructure across the state to further enhance effective urban renewal policy of the North-Central state.
Nasarawa Newsline visited the project site with workers on the line of duty to meet up with contractual deadline and specifications.
In an interview with some residents of Lafia, Gabriel Agbo and Chioma Obi expressed happiness over the on-going construction as according to them, it is a welcome development, saying Governor Sule deserves commendation over the award of the contract to give the city centre a befitting face-lift.
They said even though the project has prevented their customers from accessing their shops, Agbo personally noted hat if the project is completed, it will go a long way in reducing accident and decongesting traffic within the metropolis.
A wheelbarrow pusher, Musa Hudu and Halima Akwashiki, a food vendor, applauded the Sule-led government for the efforts, expressed confidence that the city would compete with some major cities like, Abuja, Kano and Lagos when completed.
Also speaking, a boutique owner, Kelvin Sunday and, a cleric, Pastor Ebu Otta said the construction of the flyover in Lafia is a good initiative if properly done, urging the contractor to urgently complete the project within the stipulated time as agreed.
They appealed to residents of Lafia and the state to be supportive to reap more dividends of democracy.
Speaking with Nasarawa Newsline, Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Peter Ahemba, had underscored the importance of the project in stimulating road safety, reducing delays and efficiency of transportation networks across cities.
He said critics must be aware that upon completion of the projects, economic development would be encouraged by reducing traffic challenge, cost of transport, access to markets and create friendly investments and business ecosystem.
