Mukhtar Wakeel, Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol of the Isa Mustapha Agwai l Polytechnic (IMAP) Lafia, has taken over the reins of the institution’s registry as an Acting Registrar.
The change of baton followed the expiration of the statutory five-year non-renewable term of the outgone Registrar, Zamani Habu Ibrahim.
In a barely two-hour farewell ceremony at the institution’s boardroom, the Acting Registrar commended his predecessor for his transformational contributions to the progress of the Polytechnic.
He said, under his stewardship of the registry being a cerebral corporate administrator and media strategist with sterling trajectory, the institution would pursue excellence, hard work and motivation of the staff to hasten development.
Wakeel charged the staff to unite and work as one devoid of primordial inclinations to move the institution forward.
He maintained that “the right things must be done at the right time”, warning that no act of absenteeism, nonchalance and insubordination would be allowed henceforth in the registry.
Acknowledging the leadership style of the Rector of the institution, Assoc. Prof. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata, the outspoken Acting Registrar said the institution would ensure capacity building of staff, remuneration and team work, promising to operate an open-door policy for the sustenance of the friendly atmosphere under the Maifata-led rectory.
Earlier in his farewell address, Zamani Habu Ibrahim, the immediate past Registrar, congratulated his successor for the unending support given to him while he served as the Polytechnic’s chief scribe.
He said he had achieved his mandates through the collective efforts of the staff, commending the Polytechnic community for weathering storms.
Ibrahim urged Wakeel to reach out to him whenever he needed his counsels and support, stressing the importance of prioritizing discipline, integrity and knowledge development.
In a goodwill message, representative of institution’s Governing Council, Dr. Shemau Abubakar Umar Ari, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Dr. Ilah Obadiah, Chairman of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) Comr. Paul Olotu and his counterpart of Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Comr. Danlami Yaro tasked the Acting Registrar to surpass the achievements of his predecessor for the betterment of the institution.
